The Town of Surfside Beach is located on the Atlantic Ocean in the heart of the Grand Strand in South Carolina, USA.
Nestled on 2 miles of pristine beach, with temperate climate, excellent services, many restaurants and attractions nearby, Surfside Beach is a popular place to vacation, relocate, and retire.
History
Surfside Beach was previously Roach's Beach, with only a few buildings surviving the hurricane of 1893. The area was purchased in the early 1920s. The economy consisted of lumber and feed farming. The area changed hands a few more times. In 1952, the land changed hands again it was then developed into what we know today as Surfside Beach.
Today
While Surfside Beach remains a small town with approximately 5,000 full-time residents, the vacation season most definately brings a change. With Surfside's many vacation rentals, visitors come from all across America and the world to enjoy our beautiful beaches, plentiful golf courses, and many other attractions.
